College Success Foundation - College and Career Coaches

The College Success Foundation has over 20 years of proven experience providing a unique integrated system of supports and scholarships to inspire underserved, low-income students to finish high school, graduate from college and succeed in life. AmeriCorps College and Career Coaches work with 6th, 7th and 8th grade students in selected middle schools, who might not otherwise go to college without our help. These students come from low-income backgrounds and often represent first-generation students, foster youth, students of color and other vulnerable student populations.  AmeriCorps members lay the important foundation of college readiness work by ensuring that middle school students possess the aspirations and beliefs to go to college.

AmeriCorps members serve in King, Pierce, Spokane and Yakima Counties at local middle schools in the Auburn, Highline, Kent, Seattle, Spokane, Tacoma and Yakima school districts. AmeriCorps Members support middle school students using two key strategies:

  1. Delivery of high-quality standardized college and career readiness curriculum to 8th grade students in the classroom.
  2. Development and support of the middle school's college-going culture.

AmeriCorps Members also raise awareness for the College Bound Scholarship. Finally, they provide outreach to families and recruit volunteers for their sponsor sites.
