Federal Way Public Schools - Washington Service Corps

A Partner of the Washington Service Corps

AmeriCorps members serving in the Federal Way Public Schools will address the need for literacy and math tutoring at every grade level while serving those students who are at risk academically. Through the use of tested tutoring strategies and research-based curricula, members are well-trained to meet the needs of individual students, helping them build strong reading and math skills to support their continued achievement in school. In addition, members will serve as AmeriCorps AVID Academic Coaches at the secondary level in order to prepare first-generation, low-income, and other historically underserved groups of students for college acceptance by running biweekly Formal Tutorials in every AVID elective offered in the school district.
