The Goodwill of the Olympics and Rainer Region was established in 1921 and assists individuals with barriers to employment by providing jobs, training and educational opportunities. This Goodwill operations center has an AmeriCorps team focused on serving economically disadvantaged individuals who receive job training and other skill development services. The majority of the AmeriCorps members serve in locations within the Milgard Work Opportunity Center (MWOC) assisting participants in various employment and training programs.
Members serve in programs including: the REACH Center focusing on career, education and personal development for at risk youth ages 16-24; Youth Build Program; the Job Search Room; the computer skills lab; the retail training and Transitional Employment and Career Help (TEACH) programs; the Work First Program and the food services program. The Goodwill also partners with Bates Technical College Tutoring Center where a member serves on campus to assist adult participants in job skills training programs and tutoring.
