Since its founding in 1985, Tacoma/Pierce County Habitat for Humanity has built 230 homes in Pierce County. With donations of time, talent and treasure from local governments, businesses, faith communities and its 2,000 volunteers a year, Habitat has changed the lives of hundreds of Pierce County residents.
The Tacoma/Pierce County Habitat for Humanity AmeriCorps team serves to help make safe, affordable housing a reality for families in need. The AmeriCorps members recruit, coordinate and lead crews of volunteers in the building of new homes and rehabilitating existing homes in partnership with Habitat families. The members also conduct volunteer orientations, coordinate volunteer scheduling and communication, recruit and assist families through the homeowner process.
