Volunteers are the life-blood of nonprofit organizations and without them, most nonprofits would not even exist! Your nonprofit may only be working in one small corner of one small town, but to the people you serve and those that volunteer with you to serve, your work is life-changing and transformational! In order to attract and motivate volunteers, you'll need to speak directly to their hearts and minds – and the best way to do that is with a great story!

A great story engages emotions, triggers imagination and can incite people to take action!

In this fun hands-on workshop, participants will learn how to craft an evocative narrative that empowers fundraising activities and enables volunteers to form a deep connection to the cause while motivating them to become ultimate champions for the organization. You'll build communication skills to advocate for your volunteer program to the greater community as well as internally to your own organization and those in leadership.

This workshop is the first in a series of three convenings for volunteer managers in 2021. By registering, you'll be added to a cohort of volunteer managers who will continue to meet and support each other throughout the year.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

• Identify 3 methods for incorporating volunteers into funding strategy
• Effectively communicate the organization's "story"
• Detail ways their volunteers can become part of the nonprofit story

Participant Engagement

This workshop will employ a variety of interactive learning activities to engage participants, practice skills, give/receive feedback and encourage creative uncensored thinking. Expect time to reflect, to explore ideas in small groups and Q&A.

Volunteer program managers and those who regularly lead and organize nonprofit volunteers.
