AmeriCorps of Chelan Douglas Community Action Council, (previously known as Intermountain AmeriCorps), has served rural school districts and community agencies in North Central Washington State since 1993.
AmeriCorps Members meet critical community needs and help build local organizational capacity. We foster a team environment and AmeriCorps members collectively work toward mutual goals and outcomes throughout the year. The positive impact made on organizations, community members and students who AmeriCorps members serve throughout our region is tremendous!
Education, economic security, healthy futures, and capacity building are among our top objectives. Community outreach, food distribution, teaching English and financial literacy, tutoring and mentoring students, developing new programs and services and supporting current ones are some of the activities AmeriCorps members are involved in throughout North Central Washington. In addition to service at their host sites, members participate in several community projects throughout the year, as a team. These projects may include environmental cleanup, donation drives and outreach to those in need. They also include National Service Days such as Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Earth Day. The AmeriCorps program of Chelan Douglas Community Action Council offers AmeriCorps members professional development training, hands-on experience and mentorship and networking opportunities, with team building as a priority.
Note: A total of 25 AmeriCorps members serve in this program. Some are full time (1,700 hours total) and some serve 1/2 or 1/4 time, depending on the specific needs of their service site and individual needs.
