OLYMPIA—Gov. Bob Ferguson has proclaimed March 9-15, 2025 as AmeriCorps Week in the state of Washington.
AmeriCorps Week recognizes the valuable contributions of AmeriCorps members and AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers who pledged to “get things done” for our nation as part of the annual celebration.
During the 2024-2025 service year, AmeriCorps will place 1,254 people at service sites across the state spread among 24 organizations that help address critical needs in communities. These include higher education institutions, tribal organizations, non-profit and community-based organizations and government agencies.
Since AmeriCorps was founded in 1994, more than 45,000 AmeriCorps members in Washington have logged more than 71 million service hours.

WHEREAS, service to others is a hallmark of the American character, and throughout history, people have stepped up to meet challenges by volunteering in their communities; and
WHREAS, AmeriCorps provides opportunities for people to serve their country at nonprofits, schools, public agencies, and community and faith-based groups all across the country; and
WHREAS, more than 5,249 AmeriCorps members and AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers served at more than 700 locations across Washinton, including schools, food banks, homeless shelters, health clinics, youth centers, veterans’ facilities and other non-profit and faith-based organizations; and
WHREAS, according to the AmeriCorps National Service in Washington 2023 Year in Review, since AmeriCorps was founded in 1994, more than 47,000 AmeriCorps members in Washington have served more than 74 million hours, qualifying for the Segal AmeriCorps Education award and totaling more than $188.8 million; and
WHREAS, AmeriCorps members perform a variety of services such as tutoring or mentoring children and youth, supporting veterans and military families, combatting the opioid epidemic, restoring the environment, and responding to disasters; and
WHREAS, AmeriCorps encourages collaboration and partnerships and garners the support of business partners to increase the effectiveness of its initiatives; and
WHERE AS, AmeriCorps enriches the lives of its members and instills in them the value of civic engagement that impacts their communities long after their service terms are completed; and
WHEREAS, AmeriCorps members develop valuable work skills, earn money to continue their education, and strengthen the lives of families, communities, and Washington as a whole; and
WHERE AS, AmeriCorps Week is an opportunity to recognize the dedication and commitment of more than one million Americans who have chosen to serve their country and community through AmeriCorps since its inception;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Bob Furguson, Governor of the state of Washington, do hereby proclaim March 9-15, 2025, as
AmeriCorps Week
in Washington, and I encourage all people in our state to join me in this special observance.
