Gov. Jay Inslee thanks AmeriCorps members in celebration of Washington's AmeriCorps Week

Dear AmeriCorps National Service Member:

I am writing to thank you for your service as an AmeriCorps member in Washington.

The work that you and your fellow national service members perform – preserving the environment and restoring salmon habitats, tutoring and mentoring youth, preparing communities to respond in a natural disaster, providing assistance to veterans and military families, and recruiting and training volunteers – is significant and inspiring.

In the last year I have seen national service programs and members pivot to meet critical community needs during the COVID-19 pandemic. Your resourcefulness, creativity, and commitment to getting things done for your communities speak to the importance of service and volunteerism in the social fabric of our communities and our state.  Through AmeriCorps, we see the very best of the American spirit – people working together to address problems instead of turning away from them.

As we celebrate AmeriCorps Week, it gives me great pleasure to thank and commend you for your dedicated service. I assure you that I will continue to champion AmeriCorps because of its substantial impact on communities in Washington and throughout the country.

Again, thank you for your commitment to improving the lives of your fellow Washingtonians.

Very truly yours,

Jay R. Inslee
Governor
