LISC (Local Initiatives Support Corporation)

Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) AmeriCorps members work with our partner organizations and assist with services from financial counseling and job placement to housing development and foreclosure prevention. Along the way, members engage local residents in volunteering to improve safety, health and the beauty of their neighborhoods. Many of our members serve the very communities where they live. LISC sees our AmeriCorps program as one way to grow the pool of BIPOC leaders reflecting the demographics of the neighborhoods served, and equip emerging leaders with the skills to effect long-term community change. We provide an AmeriCorps member to about 140 community development organizations across the country for ten-month terms. This year our program will support 165 members serving in the following geographic locations: Los Angeles and San Diego (CA); Connecticut Statewide (CT); Jacksonville (FL); Boston (MA); Detroit, Kalamazoo and Flint (MI); New York City and Western New York (NY); Toledo (OH); Philadelphia (PA); Milwaukee (WI); Seattle-Tacoma (WA); Economic Mobility (multi state); LISC Safety (multi state); LISC Family Income and Wealth Building (multi state); and LISC Rural (multi state).
