Reading Partners Seattle

Reading Partners is a national nonprofit literacy organization that works to expand life opportunities for elementary school children in under-resourced communities by empowering them with strong literacy skills.

At each school site, Reading Partners AmeriCorps Site Coordinators transform a dedicated space within the school into a reading center. The AmeriCorps Volunteer Coordinator and Site Coordinators work together to recruit and train community volunteers to tutor students one-on-one, using a structured, research-based curriculum.

In Reading Partners’ founding year, a team of three AmeriCorps members and one full-time Program Manager served 112 students at Beverly Park and Sanislo Elementary schools. In the 2015-2016 school year, Reading Partners will expand service to 200 students with the help of five AmeriCorps members and three full-time staff members. This year, Reading Partners Seattle is incorporating Highland Park and Olympic Hills Elementary schools to the programming.
