Washington Service Corps 40th anniversary celebration

The Washington Service Corps (WSC) AmeriCorps program will celebrate its 40th anniversary with a ceremony and service project. The event takes place from 9 a. m. to 2:30 p.m. May 19 at Celebration Park, 1095 S. 324th Place in Federal Way.

The public is invited to join the Washington Service Corps and Federal Way School District AmeriCorps members to plant trees, mulch and maintain trails in the park.

There will also be a brief ceremony with three guest speakers: 

  • Federal Way Mayor Jim Ferrell
  • Employment Security Department Commissioner Cami Feek
  • Bill Basl, Washington Service Corps founder and past executive director of the Washington Commission for National and Community Service, which is now Serve Washington

Volunteers should register here.

Snacks, tools and instructions will be provided. Wear comfortbale clothing for serving outdoors.
