The Washington Service Corps' Public Health AmeriCorps program partners with organizations who provide health information and support for healthcare access.
One of WSC's primary goals through this program is to help address the digital divide present in low-income and underserved communities that limits access to, and knowledge of, online healthcare information and the ability to make telehealth visits with care providers.
Public Health AmeriCorps members provide health information, support healthcare access (including support with navigating digital platforms) and make referrals to services. They act as lay health advisors, and work to build relationships with individual community members to increase the likelihood that information and services will be trusted and acted upon.
The Washington Service Corps Public Helath AmeriCorps program is run in partnership with the Washington Employment Security Department.
