Serve Washington announces free training and technical assistance workshops

OLYMPIA—Serve Washington is hosting its 2024 series of free training and technical assistance workshops. The workshops are ideal for people who work or serve within non-profit or community-based organizations, governments, tribes, emergency management or other field that has a major focus on service and volunteerism. 

Topics covered will include tips providing behavioral health support to people in crisis and emergency preparedness for yourself and family members.

Sept 19- Washington's greatetst hists: volcanoes, earthquakes, tsunamis and more! (10 a.m. to noon, Microsoft Teams) 

Join Serve Washington and subject matter experts from the Washington State Emergency Management Division as they discuss Washington State's greatest natural hazard hits - volcanoes, earthquakes, tsunamis, and more! Learn what the state is doing to better understand its natural hazards and mitigate their impact before disaster strikes. Topics covered will include how to know if you're in a hazard zone, how to get alerts, and how to prepare yourself and your loved ones for emergencies large and small. Note: You do not have to register for this session in advance. Nov 13 - Lend a hand (10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Zoom)

This interactive training led by Dr. Kira Mauseth is designed to provide behavioral health support skills that are relevant for anyone to use in support of friends, family members or co-workers. It teaches a basic assessment process for how to support someone who is in crisis, and provides actionable, simple and real-life strategies you can use to intervene and support behavioral health needs that may come up at home or at work.
